President's Award Winner

2011 President’s Award Jeana Singleton

Each spring, the past Presidents of the Junior League of Akron meet for one special reason..to select the winner of the President's Award.  This award winner must be an Active member who best exemplifies the mission of the League. The winner must have shown not only outstanding commitment to the League and to the community, but also have demonstrated a willingness to assume responsibility for and serve as a leader within the League. This woman is both an exemplary volunteer and a leader- the best a Junior League can be.

On behalf of The Junior League of Akron, I am proud to announce that the recipient of the 2011 President's Award is Jeana Singleton.

Jeana has been a member of the League since 2007, stepping right into service with Fundraising, Underwriting and Grants committee. She served on the ShowHouse 2009 League committee , and chaired the same committee for ShowHouse 2011.  Jeana was the Fundraising Chair in 2009-2010, overseeing the Wines Down Under wine-tasting event and the Murder Mystery event. She has also been an instrumental member of the Provisional Recruitment and Training Committee this year.

Outside of the Junior League, Jeana has kept busy in many different areas.  She is an attorney with Brennan, Manna and Diamond,  has served as the Summer Associate Program Coordinator, has won Law School Awards for research and writing, was named a 2009 and a 2010 Rising Star in the Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine, and featured in the June 2009 issue of Inside  Business as one of the 15 attorneys under the age of 40 who are making a difference in their community, and who was also awarded the 2009 Nurse Practitionar Advocate of the Year award.

Jeana has been recognized for her volunteer service in other arenas as well. She has earned service hours for her work in the Miss Ohio Organization developing the platform of "Time and Talent: Strength in Communities." Jeana has been very busy in the arts, serving as Cantor, substitute pianist, and on the dance team and retreat teams at St. Hilary's Church, as a committee member on the Education, Gala, Fundraiser and Fanfare committees for the Akron Symphony, being a member of the Akron Symphony Board of Trustees, and serving as Vice-Secretary of that organization as well.  You can see Jeana performing as part of the Symphony Ballent entertainment this weekend.

Please join me in congratulating our new President's Award winner Jeana Singleton.
