Excitement is building for the Junior League of Akron Designer ShowHouse 2009!  Designers from all over North East Ohio are eagerly preparing to transform the M. A. Knight manor into a spectacular showcase of the latest trends in home décor.  This jewel of Old Akron will be brought into the 21st century and opened to the public for the first time in its illustrious history.

ShowHouse 2009 is the primary fundraising event for the Junior League of Akron for this year.  Donations and sponsorships support the League’s programs in “Strengthening Families for a Better Tomorrow.”  Especially in these uncertain times, the Akron metro area relies on the League’s trained volunteers to make a difference in our community.  The Junior League of Akron is currently in the third year of its Focus Project, Adopt-a-High-Rise, in partnership with Mobile Meals.  The residents of Saferstein Towers have come to depend on the League for hot meal delivery, socialization and programming opportunities.  The League’s trained volunteers bring much-needed food and friendship to these largely frail, homebound, low-income seniors, providing vital services not otherwise available to this vulnerable population.  The financial success of ShowHouse 2009 will enable the Junior League of Akron to meet its goal of expanding this important program to other locations by training partner organizations.
